OUR STONES
At Myrtille Beck, SAPHIRS and DIAMONDS are the stones of choice. As part of our ethical approach, all the diamonds we buy are Kimberley Process certified. As for sapphires, they too are ethically sourced.
We work very closely with our diamond and lapidary partners, who supply us with quality stones that meet our aesthetic, ethical and quality requirements.

WHITE DIAMONDS
We use GSI quality diamonds for our brilliant cutsMyrtille Beck, and GVS quality diamonds for our Rosecut.
Diamonds come from mines all over the world, mainly in Australia, Africa and Canada.
We use two different sizes of stones:
- The Brilliant Cut: diamondis cut with 57 facets for maximum shine and brilliance. The stone has a pointed yoke on the underside that allows the light to be reflected, you cannot see through the stone.
- The Rose or rosecut cut is our fetish cut: it's an ancient, perfectly imperfect cut, pyramid-shaped on top, slightly faceted, on a flat base. We love it for the character and antique charm it lends to our jewelry. We use it in many shapes (round, oval, hexagon, pear, navette...). It first appeared in the Renaissance and was widely used in the 18th and 19th centuries... Its surface luster is very subtle, and the light passes through the stone transparently, which is why we mount it on brilliant backgrounds to give them that delicate, mysterious light.

SALT AND PEPPER DIAMONDS
Still called galaxy diamonds or grey diamonds, Salt & Pepper diamonds (pepper and salt) are of an incredible and singular beauty. Composed of carbon, they are studded with a multitude of small inclusions that give the sensation of plunging inside micro Galaxies encapsulated in a diamond.
Their luminous radiance, haloed with mystery, contrasts with the depth of this very special silver grey. Each stone is unique and takes us on a journey through its galactic landscapes.

BLACK DIAMONDS
They fall into two categories:
- The Naturals: black with translucent areas or studded with very condensed black micro inclusions.
- The Heated: opaque blacks, heated to 4,000 degrees, they have the vivid glow of that diamondwhich glitters on their facets, but do not let the light through.
The marriage of black diamonds with therose gold east is very interesting in its contrasts of shadows and light associated with the warm softness of therose gold. The different sizes of black diamonds that we use are mostly round, cushion, emerald cut rosecut.

MULTI-COLOURED SAPPHIRES
These, along with diamonds, are our favorite stones. Their wide range of colours and great hardness make them perfect stones for our engagement rings. We mostly use them in rosecut, to give them character and an antique look that is dear to the aesthetics of our jewellery, whether they are in round, oval or pear shape...
The different colours of sapphires are due to the oxides they contain.
- Blue: iron and titanium
- Green and Yellow: iron
- Violet: vanadium
- Pink: chrome
Within our Brandcompany, we like to offer you the white sapphire, and we offer it on most of our models. Its association with our frames gives rose goldit a very soft golden pink shine.
WHAT'S A CARAT?
Many of you are asking us the question: what is a carat?
The carat is a unit of mass for gems.
1 carat equals 0.20 grams.
Its name is derived from the Arabic 'QÎRÂT', which referred to the tiny carob seeds that were surprisingly regular in weight (about 0,20 grams). Since antiquity, they have been used as a unit of measurement in jewellery.
Called "KERATION" in Greek, this unit of measurement was used in all ancient civilizations. In French, it will become "carat".
